Swimming lake near Mähring
Brigitte Breusch Veittinger has already led silversmithing courses in Braunwald. During her first silversmithing week in her own workshop in the former Mähring customs house on the border with the Czech Republic, it was confirmed that she is not only a good silversmith, but also an excellent hostess. The participants can enjoy the beautiful garden alongside their class work. On the outskirts of the village lies an idyllic small bathing pond. Accommodation in Mähring available at attractively low prices. Only a quarter of an hour away from Mähring is Bärnau. in the former municipal brewery of the city is the German Button Museum. A historical park with around 30 reconstructed buildings from the Middle Ages is also located in Bärnau. It is the largest museum of its kind in the German-speaking world. The Sibyllenbad with a healing spring containing radon and carbonated minerals is only 14 km away from Mähring, very near the famous Waldsassen Abbey Library. The Tirschenreuther Teichpfanne is one of the largest contiguous pond areas with more than 3500 ponds in the Federal Republic of Germany. Marienbad or Cheb (Eger) on the Czech side are also worthwhile excursion destinations.

The most important and original silversmith way for the production of hollow bodies and vessels is the repousse technique. Working with the hammer offers many possibilities for deformation. During the development process, many forms are perceptible. Changes are possible at any time. That's the special and nice thing about it. Starting from disc shapes, the material is brought into the desired shape via various iron or wood . Flat or high vessels are possible. The hammer tracks of previous processing are leveled. The course will include the artistic design approach of this technique. In addition, the know how for mounting various elements of the vessels is taught.
